Put your writing out there
We all want our writing to be noticed. Well, sometimes you have to help it along. Sometimes the "easy" way of just shooting off a query letter isn't gonna cut it. (And if you think that's the easy way... umm, you have a lot more research to do).
I've recently seen a lot of articles about authors finding their agents through contests or webinars. If you haven't submitted to a contest before, for example, and are also worried about paying contest fees, you're in luck! Check out the Dear Lucky Agent FREE contest: http://tinyurl.com/nz6n2p8
It's for YA fiction, it's free, and you only submit your first page! More details in the link above.
This is a good way to get started and test the waters of how contests work - and, in my opinion, a good way to kickstart your brain for how to prepare and edit your work for submission, whether that's a contest or querying an agent.
So get out there and get noticed!
